What is Major Medical Insurance?

Major Medical Plans are traditional, robust medical plans that offer comprehensive coverage designed to support both everyday healthcare needs and unexpected medical events.

\  Preventive Care & Wellness Visits

\  Doctor & Specialist Appointments

\  Hospital & Emergency Services

\  Prescription Drug Coverage

\  Mental Health Services

\  Individual & Family plans

\  Annual Out-of-Pocket Limits

Major Medical plans are available based on age and ZIP code.

Qualifying Life Events

Major Medical coverage is typically available during Health Open Enrollment, which occurs once a year from November 1 to January 15th. This is the primary time to enroll in or change your health insurance for the year ahead.

Outside of open enrollment, you may still be able to enroll if you experience a Qualifying Life Event which will trigger a special enrollment period, allowing you to apply for coverage outside open enrollment. Here is a list of qualifying life events:

\  Loss of health coverage - such as losing employer-sponsored insurance

\  Marriage

\  Divorce or legal separation

\  Birth of a child or adoption

\  Death of a covered family member

\  Moving to a new state or county

\  Losing eligibility for Medicaid or CHIP

\  Aging off a parent’s health insurance plan

Apply for coverage to see if you have a qualifying life event.
